OUR HORSE –A VINEYARD WORK COMPANION

An integral part of Angélus now for generations, the work of horses contributes to the preservation of our terroirs. Participating in a sustainability and environmental performance improvement programme, Angélus chooses the most appropriate techniques for its vineyard, whether they be the most modern or the most time-honoured ancestral ones.

Among this range of techniques based on technology and savoir-faire, the horse, guided by man, enables inter-vine work on the youngest vines and the performing of vine tasks on the steepest plots, two areas of work that are impossible to do with a traditional tractor or an over-the-row robot like Ted.

Its light weight avoids a premature compacting of the soils, which combined with the growing of ryegrass, vetch and green pea seeds, favours micro-biology and the infiltration of water.

Essential in certain situations, the horse also completes on an occasional basis the work carried out throughout the year by our teams and plays a part in the preservation of the quality of Angélus’s terroirs.
