This year, Les Grandes Heures offers a programme of concerts around the theme of “The muses’ children”, performed in great chateaux of the Bordeaux region. Angélus, a historic partner of this event, will host the pianist Piotr Anderszewski on 12th September at 8.30 p.m. This virtuoso will play pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach. 

Pianist Piotr Anderszewski

Piotr Anderszewski is regarded as one of the outstanding musicians of his generation. In recent seasons, he has performed recitals at London’s Royal Festival Hall, at Vienna’s Konzerthaus, at the Carnegie Hall in New York and in Saint-Petersburg’s  Mariinsky Concert Hall. He has appeared with orchestras, such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Berlin Staatskapelle, the Chicago and London symphony orchestras, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. He has also performed many times with orchestras such as the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia and Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.   

 

His recording of Robert Schumann’s solo compositions was awarded the ECHO Klassik in 2011 and two awards from the magazine BBC Music in 2012, including the Recording of the Year distinction. Piotr Anderszewski’s recording of Bach’s English suites nos. 1, 3 and 5 released in November 2014, won a Gramophone Award and an ECHO Klassik in 2015. His most recent recording dedicated to the music of Mozart and Schumann, was released in February 2017. Recognised for the intensity and originality of his interpretations, Piotr Anderszewski has been singled out for several high-profile awards throughout his career, including the prestigious Gilmore award, bestowed every four years on a pianist of exceptional talent.
