About Irma

Irma Pany was born in Douala, Cameroon on 15th July 1988. She began learning music by taking classical piano lessons, when she was seven, before she came across her favourite instrument, which she has never left since – the guitar. She gained attention in 2008 from web users, who funded her through the crowd-funding label My Major Company. She went on to compose and make her entire first album, “Letter to the Lord”, which came out in February 2011. Playing several instruments, hers is a folk-pop style. Irma took part in the recording of the Generation Goldman compilation, released under her My Major Company label. At the Talents France Bleu new talents evening, she was awarded the “talent discovery” prize. In December, she was nominated in the “Year’s Scene Revelation” category of the Victoires de la Musique award ceremony organised by the French Ministry of Culture. Irma then moved to New York and entered a studio to record her second album “Faces”. She released a new single, entitled “Hear Me Out” in February 2014. The album was released in June and includes a song recorded with Matthieu Chedid.
